ABOUT NICK EVANS

Hey there! My name is Nick Evans, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you.

I was born in the city of Salem, Oregon; however, my family packed up and headed to the scenic landscapes of Denver, Colorado, when I was just five years old. I'm the proud son of Tom and Margi Evans and have the privilege of being the youngest among my four siblings.

From a young age, I've been drawn to various pursuits, always eager to explore and develop my talents. After graduating high school in 2009, I embarked on an enriching journey at Brigham Young University (BYU), where I delved into the fascinating world of Computer Science with a emphasis in Animation. But before diving into my studies, I embarked on a transformative mission trip to Mexico from 2011 to 2013, serving the community as a representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

At BYU, my academic path has been as diverse as my interests. While my focus remains on Computer Science, Animation, and Spanish, I've also delved into subjects ranging from acoustics and dance to religion, film, art, and business. Each course has contributed to my growth as a well-rounded individual, enriching my understanding of the world and fostering creativity in unexpected ways.

Beyond the classroom, I find solace and exhilaration on the slopes. Skiing has been a passion of mine since childhood, with annual adventures in the snow-capped mountains of Vancouver, Colorado, and Utah. Whether carving through fresh powder or navigating challenging terrain, the mountains hold a special place in my heart. Sports also play a significant role in my life, with activities like hockey, lacrosse, racquetball, tennis, basketball, soccer, and football fueling my competitive spirit and keeping me active and engaged. Go Avalanche!

Fast forward to the present, and I've found my calling in the dynamic realm of VFX. Since 2015, I've been immersed in the world of CFX (Character Effects), honing my skills in grooming, cloth setups, tool development, shot work, training, and leadership. My journey has led me to positions at Sony Pictures Imageworks, where I've served as a Hair Lead and currently hold the title of Senior CFX Artist. Additionally, I've had the privilege of collaborating with the LDS Motion Picture Studio, spearheading the development of their hair pipeline for an experimental project.

In 2021, I embarked on a new chapter of life as I exchanged vows with my beloved partner, and together we welcomed a precious baby boy into our lives in 2024. Family is my anchor, providing love, support, and endless inspiration.
